In the Delta

The Mississippi Delta grabs you and pulls you under its spell.  As a northerner, and a Connecticut Yankee at that, I didn’t know what to expect on my first trip to the area.  In some ways it felt like being in a foreign country, in other ways it felt very familiar.  The rich history was evident everywhere, from names of places lodged in memory, small plaques marking key locations, and most importantly from discussions with people.  According to many, life there has not changed much in the past several decades, especially for those who have stayed.  Life in the Delta is difficult, yet the people there are warm and welcoming to strangers, close with their families and proud of their heritage. I have just begun to scratch the surface of this mesmerizing locale.  I look forward to returning to continue photographing there.
